We Are Open

Benfield Park Medical Group are excited to launch a new digital triage system called SystmConnect, on Monday 9th September that will mean you no longer need to queue on the phone at 8:15am.

SystmConnect can be accessed by clicking the below link or via our website (under the header ‘Consult our doctors online’), SystmOnline, or the NHS App.

https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com/2/OnlineConsultation?OrgId=A86023

You will be asked to complete a short form for either a medical or admin request:

  • The medical form will enable you to request an appointment for; new, and existing conditions.
  • The admin form will give you the ability to request a letter, sick note, follow-up test results, or ask for non-medical advice/information.

Once you have selected a request option, you may be asked a few further questions.

You can submit medical requests between 7.00am and 8.00pm Monday to Friday, and administrative requests 24 hours a day. Outside of these times, if you do not think your problem can wait until we are next open you should contact 111 or attend a walk-in centre.

FAQ

What if my problem is urgent?

As a GP surgery we are not an emergency service, therefore if you are concerned about a very urgent, life-threatening, condition such as a stroke, heart attack or seizure you should ring 999 or attend A&E.

If it is not life-threatening, please say on the form if you believe your request needs seen to as soon as possible and we will try our best to get to your request quickly.

How do I request a prescription?

You can continue to do this via the usual methods (the NHS app or your SystmOnline access) as these services allow you to see a list of your recent and repeat medications.

The prescription line will remain open too for those who cannot access online at the usual times 10am-12pm, and 2-4pm Monday to Friday.

Can I still request my usual clinician?

The on-call GP will triage all requests and decide who is the most appropriate clinician, but you may still request your usual GP and we will do our best to facilitate this.

What if I have not got access to the internet?

Although we recognise there may be a small group of our patients who do not have access to the internet and can therefore continue to phone the surgery and a receptionist will complete the form on their behalf, for most patients this should make contacting the GP far more accessible.

How long will it take for my request to be actioned?

Our aim is for the on-call GP to have assessed/triaged every request by the end of the same day, however, please be aware that at particularly busy times it may take longer. The time taken for each request to be actioned depends on the requirement e.g., an appointment time, a letter wrote. One of the main reasons for implementing this new system is to cut waiting times, and patients needing to go back and forth from the GP surgery, we therefore, expect that SystmOnline will enable your requests to be actioned quicker than our current methods.

Can I just write ‘personal’?

We need all patients to give us as much information as possible about their request to use our limited capacity to best triage and direct queries. Forms with insufficient detail for us to make a decision will be replied to with a request for more information which may result in being returned to the start of the queue.

What if I have more than one issue?

If you have multiple problems, it is best to submit more than one request to make sure we have enough information about each problem.

How do I request a home visit?

Home visits are reserved for patients who are housebound, i.e. unable to leave the house for any reason. If that applies, please state so on the form.

I don’t have a login for the NHS app, or SystmOnline?

You don’t need a login to either the NHS app, or SystmOnline, to make a request, simply click on the option you want, such as ‘New Condition’ underneath.

How do I submit a request on behalf of my child?

Submit a request as usual but please make sure to use their personal details, i.e. name and date of birth, and don’t login to do so as this will connect to your own medical record.
